Commissioned Cat Paintings
If you would like to commission me to paint a cat painting for you, please either telephone me on 07884198748 or email your favourite cat photos to me with any ideas you might have regarding the painting you would like.
I will then look at your specific requirements and either discuss by phone or send you an email with a written quotation which will be tailored to your request.
We are located between the market towns of Stamford in Lincolnshire and Oakham in Rutland in the East Midlands. This is one mile from Rutland Water.
If you do not have decent photographs of your cat, you can either bring your cat to us at Exton for a photo shoot, or otherwise we can travel to your location, providing it is within a 50 mile radius from the town of Oakham in Rutland.
Photographing your cat is free of charge, providing you are local to us and within a 20 mile radius from the town of Oakham in Rutland. There is a fee for travel if we come to your location 20-50 miles from the town of Oakham in Rutland.
PLEASE NOTE: Photographs taken by us are the copyright of John Richardson and are only available for sale 28 days after the commission is completed and payment for the portrait has been made in full.
Helpful tips for taking your own photos
Try to kneel down so that you are at eye level with your animal- not too close as this can distort the angle of view. Alternatively, place your animal on a bench or wall, this will insure the correct perspective. (Try to do this with a helper).
If possible a helper needs to stand a little way behind the photographer and make noises either, with a squeaky toy or by calling.
(A biscuit can encourage an expression).
DO NOT take a photo from above your animal looking down at it, as the size of the head and nose will exaggerated in proportion to the feet.
Alterations cat paintings, if needed
Once cat paintings are at a stage for viewing, John will scan and send a proof via email for your approval.
If alterations are necessary I will make the adjustments to the painting and send further proofs until your cat painting is as you like it.
Completion/ Framing/ Postage
Once the commission is complete we will frame if required, package and post the portrait to you via Parcel Force 24 or 48 recorded delivery. Alternatively you are welcome to personally collect your painting from our Gallery at Exton in Rutland.
