Commissioned Pet Portraits by Pet Artist Penny Richardson.
I have over 30 years’ experience as a pet artist. I create beautiful Pet Portraits from photos hand painted of your favourite pets and animals.
I works in a variety of painting mediums that include gouache watercolour, soft pastel and oil. These enable me to capture pet portraits in fine detail with a rich use of colour, giving a tremendous amount of realism.
Commissioned Horse Portraits
on first glance that looks amazing!
I need to have a good look over the weekend.
I have just realised that Jim’s tack is havana, a very dark brown, not black – I rode him yesterday. Could you therefore please amend the colour, I think it looks really good other than that.
I hope you are well. Adam loved the horse painting, thank you.
Commissioned Cat Portraits
I just wanted to thank you for the fabulous painting you did of my cat Tootsie, commissioned by my mum.
I was blown away (i.e in tears!) at how beautifully you had captured her and how life like it was. It truely is lovely.

Helpful tips for taking your own photos
Try to kneel down so that you are at eye level with your animal- not too close as this can distort the angle of view. Alternatively, place your animal on a bench or wall, this will insure the correct perspective. (Try to do this with a helper).
If possible a helper needs to stand a little way behind the photographer and make noises either, with a squeaky toy or by calling.
(A biscuit can encourage an expression).
DO NOT take a photo from above your animal looking down at it, as the size of the head and nose will exaggerated in proportion to the feet.
Alterations to your pet portraits, if needed
Once the pet portraits are at a stage for viewing, John will scan and send a proof via email for your approval.
If alterations are necessary I will make the adjustments to the painting and send further proofs until your pet portrait is as you like it.
Completion/ Framing/ Postage
Once the commission is complete a bespoke framing service is available if required. The painting will be packaged and posted to you via Parcel Force 24 or 48 recorded delivery. Alternatively, you are welcome to personally collect your painting from my Art Gallery at Exton in Rutland.
A deposit of at least £50.00 is required before starting pet portraits. The remaining balance is to be paid before the painting is posted.
