Dog Portrait Painting of a German Shepherd from Rooley Moor in Rochdale near Manchester.
Rooley Moor is a rural landscape with upland farms, open moorland with areas of blanket bog and several isolated and far away hamlets. Many of the buildings in the area date back to the 17th century.
Rooley Moor was originally known as Shore Moor that dates back to medieval times. Rooley Moor got its name in the 18th century when a Mr Rowley settled on what was to become the site of the Old Moorcock Inn.
