About Commissions If you would like to commission me to paint a horse painting for you, please either telephone me on 07884198748 or email your favourite horse photos to me with any ideas you might have regarding the painting you would like. I will then look at your specific requirements and either discuss by phone or send you an email with a written quotation which will be tailored to your request.
Photography If you do not have decent photographs of your horse, we can travel to your location, providing it is within a 50 mile radius from the town of Oakham in Rutland. Photographing your subject is free of charge, providing you are local to us and within a 20 mile radius from the town of Oakham in Rutland. There is a fee for travel if we come to your location 20-50 miles from the town of Oakham in Rutland.
PLEASE NOTE: Photographs taken by us are the copyright of John Richardson and are only available for sale 28 days after the commission is completed and payment for the portrait has been made in full.
Helpful tips for taking your own photos of your horse. Try to keep at eye level with your animal- not too close as this can distort the angle of view. If possible have someone as an helper to stand a little way behind the photographer and make noises, to draw the attention of your horse.
Alterations to the portrait, if needed Once your horse painting is at a stage for viewing, John will scan and send a proof via email for your approval. If alterations are necessary I will make the adjustments to the painting and send further proofs until your horse painting is as you like it.
Completion/ Framing/ Postage Once the commission is complete a bespoke framing service is available if required. The painting will be packaged and posted to you via Parcel Force 24 or 48 recorded delivery. Alternatively, you are welcome to personally collect your painting from my Art Gallery at Exton in Rutland.
